Founder - Latisha Marks
With over two decades of experience in health and wellness, I am thrilled to help you meet your goals! My interest in exercise and nutrition sparked in my pre-teens. I had an image in my mind of what healthy looked like, followed by a desire to avoid chronic diseases stated to "run in the family." Like many people, Most of my energy and thought went into exercise. I convinced myself that nutrition was a focus, but most of us know that is often not the case. For part of the time, we exercise and partially commit to eating well; at some point, we tell ourselves that we can eat whatever we want because we are exercising.
My introduction to exercise was through aerobics, then I gravitated toward weight training, which I love. Well, I love outcomes; the process can be tough. This will age me, but that's okay. My first exercise video was a VHS by Jane Fonda, followed by Sweating to the Oldies. I was even a Tae Bo fanatic for a while. Understandably, some readers might need to look those names up (smile).
My wellness career began in the military. As an NCO, I supported soldiers in meeting weight standards to maintain their honorable status. I maintained a fascination with physical transformations through exercise, which led me to discover the incredible impact lifestyle has on chronic disease management and prevention. Naturally, that propelled me to become more knowledgeable about nutrition. I also wanted to prove that through diet and exercise, I could prevent chronic diseases known to “run in the family.” Collectively, those experiences laid the groundwork for my expertise in exercise and nutrition. Education
I have a Bachelors of Science in food and nutrition. I also have a Master of Science in nutrtion and wellness, with a concentration in health education.
